Well here we are, it is blog time again and my friends over at The jewellery Artisans Community are thinking about what is your favourite material to use for your projects. For the metal workers they will be talking….well metal !!! but for myself who loves teeny weeny beads it has to be my favourite bead type. There are so many beautiful beads out there it is easy to get enticed by all those precious sparkles and colours. There are for example beautiful crystals that shine like stars……
Then there are all those quirky little odd shaped beads that look like spikes or skulls or leaves etc………
I mean there are literally hundreds of types of bead using a variety of shapes and materials…..Do you go for man made synthetic materials or natural products or glass beads, or……………well I am sure you get what I am trying to say. So the question really comes down to what do I like.?
Well it has to be one particular brand of bead that I mostly use, Delica Beads.
I always use them on my bead loom because I like the regular shapes and size, I do have to cull some of them as sadly not every bead is perfect but on the whole they are of a quality that I like. There are many different finishes on these beads, silver lined, dyed, duracoat, white lined, to name but a few, and as for the colour range well lets just say that I have not yet seen all the colours that are available……YET. !
I spoke in an earlier post about the portrait I had beaded of my son sitting with one of his guitars. This is the perfect time to show you why Delica beads are the favorite bead for me. This next picture was made with Delica beads and has 19 different colours in it and over 22,000 beads. Now do you see why they are my bead of choice.
Here are what some of the others have to say.
