Do you know the old wedding saying, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? NO NO don’t get all excited this little chimp is not planning a wedding I just thought the saying lends itself nicely to this particular blog…..
In a previous blog post I mentioned about my love of boxes, well it would appear that having been asked to make a little trinket box I am currently back in ‘box mode’…
I started out with decoupatch paper and acrylic paint on this one but was not at all happy with the look of it. Too …..what is the word…NAFF springs to mind. I did however finish it and will put it in the corner for something or other.
My next box was an experiment to see how a piece of loom beading would look inserted into the box lid recess. Well it would have been fantastic if I had measured correctly to begin with….. Little hint for today, remember to measure from where the millimeters actually start and not the end of the ruler. !!!! Apart from that it looks good. I used Chalk Emulsion from a local DIY store (sample pots). I did not get the idea for the paint myself. It was an idea that I saw on a fellow beaders box and thought how lovely it looked. (Something Borrowed)
The last box I experimented with has been the ‘coup de grace’ of my recent box journey. It has turned out exactly how I wanted it to, which is just as well because it was a commission. I love this box so much it is hard parting with it.
